We accept on a rolling basis short fiction and cover art for Electric Midnight - our flagship publication. Electric Midnight is our quarterly zine. We aim to include works from a dozen authors.
General Policies
We cannot pay contributors at this time.
We know that’s not ideal. We’re building carefully, and our goal is to become a paying market as we grow.Creators retain full copyright. Your work remains yours.
By submitting, you confirm the work is your original creation and you have the rights to submit it.
No AI-generated writing or art. We want human weirdness - messy, brilliant, alive.
What We’re Looking For
Electric Midnight publishes weird speculative fiction - sci‑fi, horror, and fantasy with pulp momentum and modern edge.
Length
Preferred: 2,000–6,000 words
We’ll consider: flash down to 500; longer work up to 7,500 if it’s exceptional and tight.
Format
Attach as .doc, .docx, or .rtf
Standard manuscript format is appreciated (simple, readable formatting is fine)
Please include the title and word count on the first page
Simultaneous submissions
Allowed, but If your story is accepted elsewhere, please notify us immediately so we can withdraw it.
Reprints
Allowed (selectively). If the story has been published before, tell us where and when. (If you’re unsure, ask.)
Content notes
You don’t need to censor your work for us, but please include brief content notes (e.g., sexual assault, self-harm, animal harm, extreme gore) so we can route it appropriately.
Response time
We aim to respond within 60–90 days. If it’s been over 120 days, feel free to query us at [editors@paranoidrobot.press] with your title and submission date.
Rights
You keep full copyright.
If accepted, you grant Paranoid Robot Press a non-exclusive license to publish your story in Electric Midnight (digital and/or print) and to use brief excerpts for promotion.
